Besides the Humane Society evaluation, the parish government retained Hammond attorney Glen Galbraith to conduct an investigation.

Mary Ann Newcomb, a former kennel worker, has said she witnessed the veterinarian injecting sodium pentathol directly into the heart of the animals without sedation, a practice considered inhumane by some.

Dubious Deals at HSUS – http://nathanwinograd.blogspot.com/2008/09/dubious-deals-at-hsus.html

Long Day’s Journey into Night The Growing Darkness at Tangipahoa; Tuesday, August 12, 2008: More evidence is emerging about the mass killing of shelter animals at the Tangipahoa Animal Shelter slaughterhouse.

You’re doin’ a heckuva job Wayne-y Saturday, August 9, 2008: The unnecessary slaughter of 170 animals, including those who were not sick, at Tangipahoa Parish Animal Shelter in the Hurricane Katrina-impacted Louisiana area this past week underscores the need for reform in what is clearly a broken U.S. system of sheltering based on neglect and overkill.

Desperately Seeking Wayne Pacelle Thursday, August 7, 2008: A Louisiana shelter, Tangipahoa Parish Animal Shelter, unnecessarily slaughtered almost every animal in its facility according to media reports. More than 170 dogs and cats lay dead, the victims of a mass killing after animals started getting sick because of the shelter’s own mismanagement.

Shelter animals killed by needled to the heart

176 Dogs, cats, kittens and puppies at the Tangipahoa Parish Animal Shelter in Hammond, Louisiana where tortured! Eye witness comes forward.

WDSU Video:

Witness: Animals Killed With Needle Through Heart

No sedation: Held down and stuck in the heart – these 176 animals are NOT given a sedative of any kind – great suffering!

Veterinarians take an oath to do no harm to animals – he betrayed the animals

Info from Best Friends Network…

Animals PTD via heartstick….

(intracardiac injection)…”heartstick” is: It’s an injection into the heart (almost) The intracardial injection is to be used only on a sedated or unconscious animal. The reason for this is that the heartstick delivers a torturous death. Secondly, it is extremely difficult to accurately insert the tip of the needle on a squirming cat or dog.

The IC procedure should never be attempted on a conscious animal, in part because there is a reasonable probability that the first insertion of the needle will fail to place the tip of the needle correctly in to the left or right ventricle, left or right atrium or thoracic aorta. Additional “jabs” or attempts to locate the blood chamber only increases the pain to the animal. Additionally, the needle often passes through the lung on its way to the heart and a sheath of nerves between the ribs. This procedure on a conscious cat or dog is not a humane act and impacts a great deal of unnecessary suffering on its victims.

176 Animals had to die – where’s the proof

August 7, 2008

Truthful Veterinarians Needed Now

176 Animals Killed at Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control – Was it really necessary?

We deserve to know the truth.

Help! We need Veterinarians to come forth and state the truth about the Hammond shelter animals and the sickness they are claiming caused them to need to kill them all.

Please contact your veterinarian and ask them to speak up to the media about the corona virus and how it could NOT be the real reason for this mass killing!

We also need any veterinarian that has seen a Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control animal in the last month. We need to know the diseases were seen and if their was a increase in diseases from the past – vet records needed! Stand up for the truth and speak up!

We need the Veterinarians to go and speak at the upcoming meeting…

Why the vets need to speak up?

The media keeps talking to the Parish people and they keep giving them stories about the corona virus spreading. So they cover that in the news.

Facts are needed and they need to be brought to the media’s attention and now!

The adoption documents – all of them – adoptions and returns over the past month, as any returns as well as vet records of all 170+ animals that were killed. And if this deadly disease came in the shelter from a local animal then these disease must already be in the parish animal population. So vets are you seeing an increase in sick animals right now with a deadly disease that is killing them quickly?

All we want is the truth with solid proof. Why aren’t the media asking for and getting this evidence? If there is nothing to hide prove it with solid evidence.

Action Needed

People need to contact the parish president, Gordon Burgess, and demand that he answer these questions:

1. What was the disease diagnosis and who did it?

2. Was a test run for this disease and who did the test?

3. Who was the two experts Burgess consulted before making his design to kill all the animals?

4. What was two attending veterinarians diagnosis of these animals? Who are these veterinarians?

5. If this was such a deadly disease why was 10 animals allow to leave the facility that day?

5. Why did the media report this: ‘According to Parish President Gordon Burgess, there was an outbreak of a dangerous viral airborne infection inside the kennel.’? Was a diagnosis made, when, by whom, and what was the diagnosis?

6. Why did the newspaper report that the killings were because of the Corona virus (which is NOT airborne) when…

Canine Corona Virus is only a disease of puppies. It is rare, self limiting (dogs get well in 3 days without treatment). Cornell & Texas A&M have only diagnosed one case each in the last 7 years. Pet’s Health – http://www.petshealth.com/dr_library/fip.html
